He's Not An Einstein, But...

Why am I telling the resource room teacher the kid is not lazy or stupid, he just needs help focusing?

Why isn't s/he advocating for him?

Because, like Funsucker, she has decided it is not her job (even though it is).

Or, because, in the vernacular of the psychology I studied in the seventies, she is an idiot.

You can only control a portion of your life; but control that portion very well!

and CYA.

OMG!! The purpose of SETTS is to help these kids. Yes they are behind but there are certain disabilities holding them back. That is why they are supposed to receive special instruction from someone who is specially trained.

I have seen SETTS children make great gains when both the SETTS and classroom teacher work together.

also, dont forget, there are very few COMPETENT resource room teachers. For the most part teachers that cant teach and/or are uneffective in the classroom are ushered into the resource room!
