There is lots of talk about getting rid of last in first out in an effort to protect the "best". Why isn't anyone pointing out that some of the best teachers are the ones that are teaching the longest? Experience counts. I worked for a principal years ago who refused to release his old time teachers because he wanted the best in his school. My young colleagues, no matter how motivated and good they are just don't have the expertise that comes with years of practice.Would Cathie Black want a first year doctor performing open heart surgery on her or would she prefer the 20-year veteran?
Wake up New Yorkers. Don't get suckered into this "get rid of senior teacher mentality." You want the best for your children. They want to save money.
