Math Trivia

At five minutes and six seconds after 4 A.M. on the 8th of July this year, the time and date will be 04:05:06 07/08/09. This only happens every thousand years.

As a Social Studies teacher, I feel obliged to point out that the last time it happened, on July 8, A.D. 1009, nothing of any importance happened anywhere on the planet.
There should be a monument to commemorate that.
I hope nothing happens this time around too.

How do you figure that it's every thousand years? Wouldn't it be every one hundred? The only effect the year has is those last two digits (09), and the last time we had an 09 was 100 years ago in 1909.

Thanks for the correction. My husband got this one from a friend and it has been revised a few times.

Can't believe nobody commented on the terrific graphic above your post! He was absolutely yummy!

Too bad he's my son's age .

Golly! If I had a math calendar like that in high school, I would have changed my major.
