Any teacher can teach honor students and achieve results. Only great teachers teach struggling students and succeed with them.

You are a great teacher!

Chaz is absolutely right!! You literally performed miracles with kids who were very far behind, but with your demeanor, expertise, and acceptance of the kids for who they were you brought them to success from previous abject failure!! It's much easier to teach the already-inspired and those at or above grade level. It's another world teaching the at risk needier crowd. You should be proud of what you have accomplished!!

i think that administration lets those who are successful with the lower levels stay, because of that success. when i was in so. texas, i sometimes wish i had not done such a good job that first year...i ALWAYS got the lowest and kids with the most trouble (in school and at home!!)....but, i love them!!!

My mentor who retired almost 2 years ago always got the most neediest children for her first grade class, the children who had special needs issues,as well as social and emotional because they knew she can handle it.
My mentor always said, this was her punishment/compliment for being such a great teacher. When the admin know you can handle tough children, they save those kids for those teachers.
