Actually they've already merged, and you've probably noticed that despite their rhetoric, benefits for subscribers have neither changed nor improved. What they wish to do is change to a "for-profit" status. This is supported by UFT Prez Randi Weingarten. However, Ms. Weingarten is withholding her support until she finds out what portion of the IPO will go to her patronage mill.
Ms.Weingarten is, as usual, either utterly bereft of vision or totally indifferent to the inevitable consequences for city employees.
