Staying late to tutor geometry kids is a real eye opener. Not only do I get to help them one on one, I get to really talk to them and hear them.
Student: Ms, do you know who the meanest math teacher in the school is?
Me: (wanting to end the conversation) Me, now let's get back to locus.
Student: It's Pi! Pi told me that I should just give up. I can't pass the course so I shouldn't even bother trying. I showed Pi. I did great on the regents, a 75, but Pi still failed me.
What I want to know is how teachers like this can live with themselves?
