There Is No Excuse For This

The course ends in June but the resource room teacher somehow arranged for Junior to take the regents in January. Maybe she thought that because he is repeating the course, he would be able to pass the exam this time.

Did she do any prep work with him?

Did she make sure he knew tutoring was available, call his mother to let her know of the extra help?

Did she tell his classroom teacher her plan?

Did she provide the proper reader he was entitled to?

If you answered NO to the above questions, you must know my poor little inclusion boy who once again is going to be faced with a failing grade.

The saddest part is I could have gotten him to pass. He got a 58 this time, so he was almost there. I could have helped him on his lunch periods. (He is very receptive to extra help.) I could even have been his reader on the exam.

If I am correct, there are less than 10 kids in her charge. How can she let this happen?

All of the above and she probably thinks no one else cares so why bother. These are the "throw away" kids. I hate to see them being treated this way.

Which teacher will get the "blame" and the lower percentage? Are you to become the "59%" teacher now?

None of this makes any sense. Was she "ordered" to do so or does she need resource room???

What has the feedback been to this decision? Has his classroom teacher put in a complaint or told the rep about his. This should at least come up at the next policy meeting.

It looks like there is no coordination between you and the resource teacher, which is the job of administration. God knows you have enough on your plate already without having to supervise other teachers. Blame the Principal and the Assistant Principal in charge.

As a special education teacher myself as well as the mother of two special education kiddos, I have absolutely NO tolerance for special ed teachers as you described.
I am thankful for teachers like you.
I just do not understand how ineffective teachers get to stay while good teachers get kicked again and again.

These inclusion kids are not actually part of Packemin, although they take classes here. No one ever explained the situation to us.

I agree with Moriah about the Principal and the AP However, the resource room teacher is also the blame and since that job is considered a plum job, the question is who did the resource room teacher know to get the job?
