Ghouls, the hand reaching out from the grave to grab you and suck you in.
That is the way many of the teachers in my school see ex-Principal Suit. They despise the man and all he stands for yet they fear terrible consequences if they do not go to his party and honor him.
Tonight there will be many people in attendance. Many will be teachers who he has humiliated and hurt financially (taken away per session jobs). Many have been denied comp time jobs they were entitled to. Poor sheep, too scared to take a stand. Too scared to stand up for what they know is right.

I take it you'll be home, on the couch, watching Dancing with the Stars tonight...oh, wait...that's what I'll be doing. I just hope you won't be a sheep ;-)
Actually, I had to work tonight at the community college but if I didn't, I would have gone out drinking to celebrate that he is gone.
Hopefully this new principal will read your blog, see that old principal was an ass, and try very hard not to repeat the past!
There are too many sheep, and not enough shepherds!!

As an alumni of so called Packemin HS (and a student actively involved who dealt with Suit various times) I must come to Suit's defense. Although he did make constant announcements and repeatedly forgot to turn off the PA system allowing the whole school to hear him having a conversation, these announcements gave the school personality. I would always look forward to Suit's brainteasers, random little announcements, and hearing the Welcome Back Kotter theme song when returning from vacation. I have seen Principal Hula (name taken from Hawaiian shirts, I assume) once, and I am in no place to judge. I just believe that Suit's philosophy on education (note I am not referencing relations with faculty) was wonderful. Adding to the extra-curriculars to give kids an investment in the building is nothing short of genius, and Suit deserves his due for this.
I'm glad you had a good relationship with him.
How about all the kids he put down because they were not as smart or as active as you? How about his standing up at Arista installations and insulting all the students who couldn't get in?
How about the one type of student he favored over the others?
How about all the grades he changed to push kids ahead, not caring if they knew anything or not?
He was good for some, but not the majority.
Point taken; We can both agree on Mr. AP though. Oh the stories I could tell if they wouldn't reveal my identity to some people....
On Mr. AP, I bet we agree.
