Facebook Calculus Group

I had the kids in my AP calculus class start a facebook group so they would have a place to work together online.  Since we don't have double periods anymore they need a place to work together.  So far, it has 48 members and is growing.  The take-home assignments I give them and then grade force them to work together.

I suggested the change in scheduling so more kids would be able to take the class, and I've set up an online place for them to work together.  But, I've got to do better.  Some of these kids are still arriving 30 seconds late to class and it is all my fault.  I've got to do better.

You know, if you took ALL of you students home with you and just raised them, for Pete's sake, maybe you could make SURE they were always on time! ;-)

Its always the teacher's fault. Students and Administrators can do no wrong.

Maybe we teachers need to tattoo that to our heads, 'its all our fault. We are to blame."

Why not helicopter them in from the other side of the building??

On a lighter note, I think it's wonderful that you found a way to use tech that relates to the students as a means of getting them connected to math.

What's his name cannot come up with one genuinely good or creative idea to support students when his only agenda is to make himself look good by trying to bring you down. I am very surprised by Hula and think Hula should write you a marvelous letter for your file. You go the extra mile for your students and deserve a few good accolades. Just saying.

There are 52 members now and the kids are discussing the take-home assignment. It feels good.
