Still no answer as to why my ATR buddy can't be given the position available in the school she has worked in and taught 5 classes in (satisfactorily) last year.

I forget, are you in LAUSD too? In my SLC we are 3 English teachers. One got a pink slip that never got rescinded. Now we are being forced to interview and hire off of what I call the "leftovers" list. We interviewed two women last week. Both had plusses and alarms too. But, we were told we need to pick one of those two or the district might just place whomever they wish.

No, NYC--I wish the DOE in NY would do the same. Too many good teachers are not being hired because they are too old or have too many years in the system.
I still want to know why she was not allow to apply for this position if she qualifies. That to be is grievable (is that a word???).
