I Don't Know

Is it possible to trust someone whose political leanings are totally opposite to yours?

Depends on what you need to trust. I trust the people I disagree with politically to wipe out my vote, but I also find them some of the my favorite people - we agree to disagree on some subjects.

would you trust someone who was a different religion than you?

how about if they drank a different beer?

or liked an actor or actress that you hated?

appreciating that people respectfully disagree is what will make this world a more peaceful place.

that is the way I think anyway...

I don't see why not. I'm sure there are trustworthy people of almost every political bent possible. It may be difficult to *respect* such a person, but trust should not be ruled out only on political grounds.

Drinking a different beer or following a different religion harms no one. Politics, on the other hand, can and has been very harmful.

Look at all the people that trusted Hitler.

depends on how much you drink and/or if you are walking in Jerasulem, Baghdad and a few other places.
