This Guy Is Not Sitting On His Ass Doing Nothing

When we elected a new CL, we got a good one, a really good one. (I also have high hopes for the principal that listens to him.)

I just got the following e-mail and have to share it with all.

Hi POd,

I spoke to the principal today and we are making some changes. First of all, there are groups 1 and 2. The time when teachers are not dealing with groups time will be devoted to lesson planning.

Also, the 90-minute dept.meeting/ class prep will become 30 minutes meeting and 60 minutes classroom prep/ teacher time. The breakfast is optional but you really have to be there at 8 AM. A note should go out with the corrections today or tomorrow.

So don't think I just sit on my ass all day. Even though that's what I'm doing right now.

He sounds like a dream come true :)

Maybe Hula who had to start off his tenue under Suit's thumb, can be his own man now.

I can assure you that Hula was his own man to from the beginning. Being new means sit back and watch, listen and learn the culture of the building. That's what any good teacher who became principal would have done or an educational scientist.

Anonymous--do you know Hula?

Let's be fair here-it's clear that if Anon is praising Hula, he must be either Hula, Hula's wife, or other close relative....

Or maybe Hula desreve the praise, unlike Suit.

If I recall, even after Hula was appointed, Suit was still around.
That to me is very unfair.

Yes it's important for a new admin to be patient and learn the culture, but it also made is extremely hard to have Suit in the building because some teachers and students would still look at him as "in charge".

Had the DoE had a brain, they would have hired a different mentor other than the outgoing principal.
