NYC Christmas Photos
I love NYC all the time, but especially this time of year. Nothing beats walking around to see the windows and the other sites. If you are interested, more pictures here, on Facebook.
Time Warner Building--Columbus Circle
BTW--if you go, save money and eat in the tap room in the back of Whole Foods. Lots of good beer, different than usual varieties and great food with many vegetarian choices.
Winter beers are my favorite. This one might have been the best I ever had and, believe me, I have had many.

Now I Know Why I Drink It
From a heath article in Newsday--Chase it with beer (in moderation). the bitter compounds that come from beer derived from hops seem to activate PPARs (at least in animal studies). Those are the substances in your body that some foods and beverages stimulate and that may have ani-infammatory effects. Once they're activated, they also decrease glucose and insulin levels, as well as lousy LDL cholesterol.

Good Brews
While in Canada, I only drank Canadian brews.
My husband ordered a diet coke and I ordered one of these. The bartender, rather than the waitress who took our order brought our drinks. I was shocked when he handed me the beer. When I asked him how he knew I wanted it, he said "Women drink Honey Brown, men don't." Honey Brown has always been my favorite beer but now I have to rethink it. I hate drinking something that is only associated with one sex.
