The Sadist Within

Mr. Arrogant chose a seat in the back of the room for the exam.  He saved the seat next to him for a smart, quiet girl, a girl he knew he could browbeat into letting him cheat.

Mr. Arrogant should know by now I see through him.  I moved the girl far away.  He sat alone in the back, turning red and struggled.  I enjoyed every minute of his pain.

Tell me again how so many more students are graduating high school than ever before.  Tell me again how great our kids did under NCLB, RTTT and of course Bloomberg and Walcott's administration.

Why I Was So Pissed

It wasn't that he opened schools.  I am used to NYC never getting a snow day.

It wasn't that I would have had to take a sick day if I did not go in.  I always felt fortunate to have those to use.

It wouldn't have been for my own kids.  I let them stay home, attendance be damned, when the weather was that bad.

It was the arrogance that pissed me off.  De Blasio and Farina could have said NYC schools stayed open because they felt that was best.  Period.  They didn't have to talk about how wonderful the city was running when, in reality, it wasn't.  Trains and buses were running late and canceled in many places.  Cars were skidding and getting stuck.  Sidewalks were slippery.  It was not a day to be out.  They heard the same weather forecast we all did and chose to ignore it.  They should have said they were in charge, they made a decision and everyone had to accept.  I wouldn't have liked the words but they would have been better than the lines they fed us.

Entitlement

What gets em the most about this Great Neck SAT cheating scandal is the arrogance and the entitlement of the students caught cheating.  These kids are claiming double jeopardy because the colleges are rescinding acceptances and they still might be criminally prosecuted, how sad.  They got in under false pretenses in the first place.  And how about the sleezeball lawyer who compared paying someone to take a test to looking over a shoulder during an exam?  (I know the lawyer is only doing his job, but come on....this is a ridiculous analogy.)

These kids did something wrong.  Their wrong doings kept a kid who did the right thing from getting a seat in the college they are attending.  They should be apologizing, admitting their guilt and throwing themselves on the mercy of the court instead of whining about the punishment they will possibly be dealt.  They need to learn that silver spoon they were born with does not allow them to do whatever they please.

The Locked Door

I got to the room early and tried the door. It was locked. I walked to the other door and found that it too was locked.

The man arrived at the room and I told him the door was locked. He didn't believe me, or maybe he thought I did not know how to turn a door knob. He insisted on trying it himself. No matter how hard he twisted it, the door did not open. He walked to the other door and tried again, even though I told him it was also locked. He couldn't open the locked door, just as I could not open it.

Men, they think they know it all!
