Thermostat Repair Guys

So three guys showed up period one today to fix the thermostat. My class gave them a standing ovation. One kids yelled, "take a picture", so I did.

The three guys worked for about fifteen minutes. Actually, one guy worked and the others stood around as his support group. Too bad the support group didn't help because after the fifteen minutes they told me they needed a part and left. They returned ten minutes later, stood around, attached something to the wall and left again. The thermostat is not fixed.
While they were trying to fix this, I mentioned that the thermostat is the adjoining trailer was also not working. They told me they knew, but mine was in worse shape. Mine looked worse but not working is not working and that one does not work either.

I don't know if they returned to fix it later in the day. I left the room early (half day, parent teacher conferences). I bet if these guys worked for merit pay the thermostat would be fixed.

Ah, the good ol' reliable trailer fixit squad. I know them well.

As does every other teacher in the system, while Bloomberg and Weingarten screw around with merit pay.

How many workers does it take to fix a thermostat?

Well now I know how it feels in a trailer in the rain. Due to construction at our school (brick work) it now rains in our building.
Nice big flooding rain. Lets just say our Principal is not to pleased.

Oh dear... I understand the gravity of the situation, but the picture you took is hilarious. What were they thinking? Why didn't they split up and fix both thermostats at the same time?

They only had the parts for one thermostat. And, those weren't the right parts either. I wonder if we will have any heat tomorrow.

It's very difficult to split up 3 guys 2 ways, especially when there's only 1 part and you need 2.
Maybe they need to use the workshop model to more effectively install at least one part in one place?? Maybe they can learn how to do it from one another, and that's what you witnessed....

PO'd, I forgot to mention.....perhaps you will now be able to use those old crappy Prentice Hall Math A books in a more effective manner, for firewood? This is really not funny at all, it's much cooler out today. I'd like to know which administrator is doing their job without heat in their office or a decent workspace. The message to the kids is loud and clear..."WE DON'T CARE!!"
