If an adult could only read at a 3rd grade level, society declares this to be a problem and that person has problems. But somehow if is considered acceptable, even good, to only be able to do basic math.
This is the WORST thing I have ever read. If someone suggested not forcing students to take English people would shout that it is beyond absurd. With people like this no wonder America is falling further and further behind!

Why not get rid of everything hard? Politicians would love stupider Americans, more people to vote for them without having a clue as to what they are voting for.
