Dangerous Waters
Sending a child with special needs into a classroom without proper services would be the equivalent of sending this young man out on his kayak without a life jacket.
So, what can a parent do to best protect their child? I know many parents who struggle to get teachers to read and follow their child's IEP. They don't *want* to send their child into the classroom without proper services, but seem to be thwarted by school staff not supporting them adequately.

Informed parents like you have a good shot at getting proper support services. Most parents are not informed and do not know their rights.
