Some kids do grow up, even the ones you think never will. My wonderful niece is a prime example. She had a difficult childhood, and made some bad choices while in high school and immediately afterwards, but she learned. She is now a responsible mother with two terrific, bright, outgoing children who are well cared for and loved. She has chosen a fantastic man to be her partner and has a beautiful home.When I look at the kids who are messing around, instead of writing them off, I will take out a picture of this young woman and know there is hope for their lives to be turned around. It might not be easy, but it can be done.

Wow, your niece is beautiful. This is the kind of story I need to keep in my head. The majority of our students will grow up into wonderful, responsible, young adults but not before life kicks them around a little bit. It is nice to get to see them as adults.
