Give Him A Round Of Applause

Many of my friends are ATRs.  They are all good, experienced teachers who are without classrooms through no fault of their own.  Everyday, I become more and more disillusioned with the system.  These people not only can't get jobs, they can't even get interviews.  Even the ones with licenses in shortage areas are beating their heads against the wall.

The whole thing should not make sense to anyone.  These teachers are getting PAID!!!!!!!  They should be in a CLASSROOM!!!  They want to be in a CLASSROOM!!!   Bloomberg and company don't want them around and are willing to pay out billions trying to make them go away.  THEY AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE!!!  Money is being used to hurt teachers instead of being used to help children.

Let's hear it for the education mayor.

A group of teachers had to watch Waiting For Superman. Of course, it mentions the ATRs - or maybe it was something else we watched. The other teachers are insular and never look outside their own small classrooms.

They immediately glommed onto the Rubber Room term and bought into the idea that these are bad teachers.

They are still referring to "all those bad teachers in the Rubber Room" - they are frigging idiots.

And people want to know why I walk around SO DISILLUSIONED and ANGRY in regards to our current educational system.

The system is hurtful and abusive to all!
