Eight down. He's closer to the department he always wanted. Too bad it is not the one that is good for the kids.

That happened to me last year... my contract was not renewed because I was not a good fit. (Read: too expensive because I had experience and an extra degree.)
I and 5 others were replaced with people with no experience. The remains of my old math department are PISSED at admin.
I was hired by a school in another district that pays better, let's me teach MY way, and has classes in the low teens instead of the low 30s. Only downside is a longer commute.
And my new school has scores that make it one of the top 5 in the state.
Not a good fit... well, I suppose... if striving for excellence isn't your thing ...
I'm happy you found a place to be happy and appreciated. Everyone deserves that.
