I agree- I like seeing administrators taking a stand for something good..and I also like them admitting that "They keep on talking to them but they don't seem to want to listen".-quoted by Ms Burris, principal at South Side HS in Rockville Center.
“We tried and tried to talk to the state, but they don’t listen to us,” Ms. Burris said.
“Principals don’t revolt,” said Bernard Kaplan of Great Neck North High School on Long Island, who has been one for 20 years. “Principals want to go along with the system and do what they’re told.”
**This is the direct quote from the NYT Michael Winerip article. I misquoted in the last comment.
This, in addition to the article in the New York Times today (about Cuomo changing the tax structures),is GREAT news...for New York. Hopefully, other states will follow suit (in both areas, w/principals & administrators refusing petty & insane teacher evaluation systems--ILLAnnoy now has something called PERA--yuk!). It takes a WHOLE BUNCH of people to affect change! AND--I would like to add--pray for Michigan.(What's going on there is worse than Wisconsin & Ohio combined--check out the Michigan Education Assn. website.)

I just signed, but my signature doesn't mean much. It is good to see administators taking a stand for something good.

This is great news. But on last count only 33 or so NYC principals signed it.
Let's hope more take a stand.
