Letter From TRS

Dear POd Teacher:

TRS apologizes for the delay in processing your retirement allowance.  We have been unable to finalize your allowance because of the following issue(s)
We are experiencing temporary processing delays.
Once the issue(s) is resolved, TRS will be able to complete the processing of your retirement allowance.

Due to this delay, TRS will increase your current advance payments by 10%, effective on the 10/31/2011.  [note:  My three payments have all been different so I have no idea as to what a 10% increase will even mean.]

Please be assured that we are making every effort to finalize your retirement allowance.

ugh, increasing it by 10 percent that way they can have an excuse to lower the payment later... what a pain in the rear!

No, they are giving us far less than we are entitled to so it won't be a decrease later on. They must be making $$$ on the money they are holding back on.

Too bad the real salutation to this letter did not say, "Dear P.O'd Teacher"...now that would have been funny if that name was used..

I really lucked out because my checks pretty much came right away. I do remember about 10 years ago they were behind, but I thought they fixed those kinks.

I have a feeling they are on overload due to all the retirements. This is why I am against the UFT using TRS funds for anything outside of retirement, (2 years ago Randi wanted to build a co-op for underpaid paras and teachers and health care workers covered by the UFT. Luckily the construction workers weren't union, so that plan was scrapped.)

Don't forget to get all your scripts filled before the 3 month grace period ends.

They should have been prepared for the onslaught of retirees. That's what the DOE wanted, isn't it? Schoolgal, they were quite vigilant about the 3 month grace period and when it ended. We are now under the retirees' drug plan and in the bureaucratic twilight zone....
