Another Reason for Not Having Performance Pay

I've heard this comment over and over and over again from my geometry students.

It is mostly accurate, but not 100% so. They did pass one test. They managed to squeak out a 65 on the integrated math regents or the math A regents which means they know roughly 35% of the material.

And now they are talking about tying our paychecks to student test performance.

"CALGON, TAKE ME AWAY!"

All it does is create a bigger model for teaching to the test.
Amazing that real educators are not speaking up against this.

Man, "Merit pay" is the biggest crock of shit ever! After taxes and for the amount of hours you put in at home and school it comes out to chump change and of course it all depends if you have children that are capable and willing to learn 35% of the material.

Such is life in these United States today.
