Last Sunday we headed over to Flushing Meadow Park. The Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival was into its third day. The park was teeming with people. Lots of booths were set up and free stuff (junk, not worth waiting on line for) was given out.
I forgot what a beautiful park was right in my own backyard. Here people who live in building with no grass or trees around come to barbecue and enjoy the great outdoors. I hope no one reminds Bloomberg about the ball fields here, or he might give them to private schools along with the Randall's Island fields. I am willing to bet he keeps the bathrooms on Randall's Island better than the city keeps the ones in the park for the people. The one I used had no paper, soap, or lock on the door.
After the festival, we headed over to Corona for pizza and ices, ices at the Lemon Ice King (featured on the introduction to King of Queens). Years ago, found $200 in the street nearby, so the place has special meaning to me. But, even without the money, it is worth the trip. They make the best Italian ices ever.
I'm going to miss my little adventures when school starts.

There's a dragon boat festival near us every year too. It's fun to watch. I love going to those kinds of summer activities, though nobody else in my house shares my sentiment.
So, did you splurge after finding the money or did you save it for a rainy day?
