Well, she go my point. She actually made the trip to my trailer to apologize. Now I feel bad that I made such a big deal about the whole thing. Bad, but not that bad. I'm too old to take crap from anyone anymore!

Exactly how old do you have to be to not take crap from anyone anymore? I'd have to classify that moment as a milestone.
So what was her reasoning?
She is new, she didn't know and there was no one around to ask--I'm sure this was true (not)
And, she knew the kid would have problems. Her AP was aware. No plans to help her in place.
