The Eleventh Plague

Comment a kid made during my calculus test today.

Ms. PO'd...The Jews wandered the desert for 40 years, but this test is worse than any of the hardships they suffered. If G-d should had sent it to the Egyptians as the first plague, then he would not have needed to send other ten.

To which the rejoinder is:

Calculus can kill you
Dead as dead can be
It killed Isaac Newton
And now it's killing me
Dead is he who devised it
Dead are those that taught it
They will die who learn it
Blessed death they earn it

And here I was thinking that Unity was the 11th plague. Go figure.

I'd have been tempted to give him extra credit just for coming up with such an original whine, though. Pretty funny.

I happen to give really hard tests in that class to get the kids ready for the AP exam. I mark on a big curve so the only thing I hurt are their egos.

Mean is the take-home test (107 points) that they have to complete over spring break!

Myrtle--thanks for the poem. I copied it and forwarded it to the class.
