Check This One Out
The sad thing is that I think this stuff could actually be going on.

If it isn't, it will. My question is, why is this stuff going on? These are not isolated incidents, each to be discussed and fought on its merits. It's part of a pattern, a way of thinking. The ironic "fantasy scenarios" can be written because these policies are organic: they form part of a larger whole. Fighting each one, while it may be necessary, is like fighting the Hydra.
There is no end of stuff to get worked up about. What I enjoy reading is your success stories, and particularly how these successes were achieved. That might be of particular use to your readers who are in a position to make a difference.
And while I'm at it, is your blog part of the answer? If so, your blog logo might read "never underestimate the power of an extremely pissed off NETWORKED woman!"
Maybe we need to tell the powers that be that they shouldn't eat lunch either because they'd get more work done and have time to come up with more exciting ideas like the one mentioned in the article.
You can tell 'the powers that be' whatever you like. They don't have to listen to you, and, guess what? They won't! To judge from this yet other story to make you pissed off, some 'powers that be' are into the power thing: lording it over people for kicks (see the fear, unease, anxiety build, ho-ho-ho!).
The only thing they listen to is power, i.e. threat to their own; the golden rule is divide and conquer. If you're one teacher, they don't even have to answer you or register that you are talking to them. If you're an organized group, you have a bargaining position which is what you want. If you're connected, or networked with the potential for organization, you have a bargaining position: "Unless you do something by yesterday, my 100,000+ readership will hear about it in 24 hours, including the names of the people who are sitting on their thumbs doing nothing." This is the only kind of stuff that gets their attention. Is all I'm saying.

Thanks--I started teaching to make a difference. I hope I do.
