Education On The Cheap

"WE ARE NOT CONCERNED WITH THE PATIENTS, WE ARE ABOUT COST EFFICIENT".

Read the above quote on a friend's blog.  It came from the TV show Gray's Anatomy and was made by a young, hip surgeon in answer to an older surgeon wanting to use a tried true method.

My friend pointed out the same thing is happening in education.  She hates being part of a system where she can't do what is right, only what is cheap and what will get results.  She would love to leave but knows she needs to stay to pay her bills.  She reminds me of how happy I am to be out of it.

There was a great Britcom called Yes Minister. On one of the shows they were planning a hospital, and someone asked where they would place the patients. They explained no one had planned for that, as it would screw up the entire budget.

This is so so true! You have no idea how painful it is to work in a system that doesn't care about the students! There is no MASTER TEACHER; there is no seasoned AP to go to; there are just babies trying told that when they earned a degree online-by cheating they can rule the world- no experience required!
