Newbies Only
More admins are inviting the newbies to parties, barbecues and happy hours. The ones that have been around for a while are being excluded.
This might be legal, but it is not very nice.

Now, why would any teacher want to socialize with alcoholic beverages with admin? I would be very cautious about partaking in any kind of alcoholic drink around any supervisor. Anything can be misconstrued nowadays.
Very inappropriate for administrators to be socializing with any staff after hours let alone with a selected few. Administrators are very foolish and opening themselves up for trouble.
Although I'm relatively antediluvian, I was recently asked by an admin to go to a local establishment for happy hour. However, it's in an area where it's very congested and difficult to park. Considering my one drink limit in the presence of admin, it's just not worth the trip. My couch at home was a much more desirable destination. I don't feel that I've missed anything, believe me. Queens Teacher, even if it's inappropriate, the socializing will go on. Administration is above all blame for anything, so their impropriety bears no consequence; only the teachers are responsible for anything that goes wrong.
Thank you anonymous. You are right! Administrators THESE DAYS could do no wrong. It pays to be young and a SAB! A shame experience and wisdom mean very little these days in education.
I am sure those teachers don't really want to go, but feel if they don't it will make their life worse and some feel it will make their life better. Either way the admins are using their power inappropriately because those feelings do fall under harassment.
And btw, thanks for serving up your daily glass of "whine" because without this blog, teachers would not have a place to go and say, "OMG! That is happening in my school too!!" Any staff member that doesn't want a school that benefits both students and staff is a moron. So this is for you Anon Moron--make sure to call your admin and tell them what I wrote about you and them cause I'm sure you are one big school RAT!!
(and I really wish this blog would no longer moderate comments cause I miss telling these idiots off!)
It's not the favoritism that bothers me cause admins do it in other ways--better schedules, better students, etc. If one of those "invited" really doesn't want to go, but is afraid to say "no", that's abuse of power.
Wow SG, I'm sure you're greatly admired at your school and in education, using such words as moron and idiot.do you really feel your comment told people off....yeah...you just made yourself look bad. No wonder you're not invited to happy hour. If you're so big and bad, use your real name so I can rat you out for being dispicable.

SG
It's not the party or the drink, it is the blatant favoritism that sucks and this is just one more way it is shoved in our faces.
