This Can't Be

I just heard summer school is on a week's intersession in some places in the city. Isn't that great! The kids that learned little or nothing all year can now do the same in five weeks with just one small difference--many will make up the credit they lost.

Oh how wonderful it is to have a mayor who has made education his priority.

(Please, someone, anyone, write and tell me that I heard wrong.)

You heard wrong. It's three weeks.

Wow, how could I have been so mistaken. Three weeks to make up 5 months. No wonder the kids in my 9th period wanted summer school.

I'm teaching high school here in the Bronx. The summer session is six weeks.

My mistake, it is 3 weeks, a week off and then 3 more weeks.

Wow, POd, I just spent a good chunk of time reading back through all the posts about this over at accountable. Talk about an eye-opener! I just may be removing this post...

No...you were right. It was three weeks credit retrieval. One week off. One week for incomoming freshmen-bridge. Or during that week if you had many absences during the three weeks you now have a chance to make it up. One week regents review and one week regents! yup, this is a GRAND Mayor!
