Who would have guessed that McDonald's and other fast food restaurants have higher standards for the meat they serve than the government does for school lunches?

According to CBS News, the government uses "spent hens", birds that are past their prime and should be used for pet food or compost in school lunches.

Don't worry if you are a NYC parent. The DOE has its own quality control and we all know how efficient the DOE is.
