Some days something happens that makes all the crap we put up with worthwhile.
My period two class presented me with these beautiful flowers and made speeches about their year in math. One girl claimed to hate math until her year with me (this I find hard to believe.) Everyone in class stood up an applauded. It was my first standing ovation.
And, now you know why I don't want to retire.

that was really sweet of them!
PO'd, you know how I feel about my kiddies, so I know exactly how you feel- THIS is why we do it.
Always have in the back of your mind that they can reassign you at any time for any reason. They will not force you to retire but they will give good reasons to make that decision and it has nothing to do with how effective you are with your students! Enjoy these small glimpses of humanity in the brave new world that education has become in this city.
Justice,
Come on now. Let's not put a damper on this moment. She will not be reassigned because her school is not closing and she has seniority in her department.
What a wonderful thing for them to do.
Where are Suit and AP at times like these? Oh yeah, writing their stupid memos.

That is when teaching is worth it. Further, don't retire and force Mr. Suit to sweat on his budget choices.
Thanks for you nice words School Gal. I'm not worried about the admin doing anything. I'm too close to retirement.
Congratulations! That's the kind of accolade that means the most.
This confirms what a great teacher you truly are...when it comes from their hearts. What an honor!! Congratulations and keep on teachin'!!!
