It looks like Belle caved. She is going to the end term party. Suit had his henchman. little Ms F Status call Belle and ask her to go to the party. She made it seem like Belle would be doing the whole school a big favor by celebrating her retirement with the school party and that it would be a great experience for Belle.
My take on this is quite different. Little Ms F has a cushy job. She comes in late, leaves early and manages to spend a good part of the day hanging out with friends and napping. Suit asked her to speak to Belle and Ms F, not wanting to risk her free money, agreed.
Now, let's see if others in the department cave and go also. I'm guessing that some will.
And, teachers wonder why we are always given the wrong end of the stick. Most need to grow a pair of balls and learn how to use them.

Little Ms. F status must have a split position between your school and mine.
I guess Ms. F. (what does the F really stand for?) is an education call girl, so she gets to do the calls at the bidding of Suit and his henchpeople.

you got that right! I've told several teachers from the elementary school to quit bitching and actually do something about a situation. Alas, they just keep bitching...
So maybe your school isn't so different than mine. Teachers who like Belle will use that as an excuse to go to the party. I am sure the deal included free guests for Belle too. I am sure Ms. F. told her she deserved a party.
Now I don't know if Belle had a good relationship with Suit, but I would use that opportunity to make my retirement speech to hang him dry.

My school is cheap so I am betting that Belle cannot bring guests. And, we are not party people, so anyone going is going because of the pressure.
Belle is too shy to make any kind of obnoxious speech, although I wish she would. I will not be there to hear any speech she makes.
I hate to sterotype, but I have found teachers to be cheap. When I did go to these parties (only when I liked the staff) people would complain about the cost of these parties. I was in charge of one of these parties and we picked a beautiful place and even went to a tasting. The food and drinks were marvelous and the cost was reasonable when you factored in the gift and music. But, some people still complained.
And, I am sure a guest is included because that is customary. I just hope your school didn't do what my idiot school did, they did not save any seats for a retiring teacher and her husband who were forced to stand for 15 minutes when everyone else was seated until that issue was fixed, not by the committee, but by another teacher who took control of the situation.
Totally disrespectful.
I hope Bella's friends still put something else together for her.
