Suit Does It Again

Traditionally, when a teacher in my school retires, they have a big party. This party is for the retiree and the retiree only. Belle is retiring and her party has been planned for one week after the school's end term party. Suit is upset. He thinks people will not come to the end term party because they are going to Belle's party. He asked the people arranging Belle's party to cancel it. They refused. He then got a little departmental suck up to ask them to cancel. Again, they refused. He then summoned each person to his office and "gently persuaded" them to cancel Belle's party. So, after thirty years of teaching Belle leaves us without a proper send off.

Suit says all retirees will be honored at the end term party, but we all know that the most of the honor will go to his little friend. Besides, Belle does not want to go to the end term party and has decided not to attend. Suit thinks the teachers that were going to go to Belle's party will now come to the end term party. Boy, is he wrong. I for one, never planned on attending but if I did, I would now be boycotting it on principle. (Besides, he stupidly booked the party on a Jewish holiday, a big sign of disrespect to the Jewish teachers in the school.)

Who in their right mind has a party that people have to be coerced into going to?

Once, one of my middle school colleagues planned a luncheon just for us(which was appropriate, because the elementary school teachers snub us anyway). The principal at the time forced her to cancel when she refused to open it up to the entire school. Administration needs to learn to keep their noses out of parties.

Good for the teachers. If I was in their (and your) shoes I would do the same thing. To bad for Belle.

I am seeing a disturbing trend with Mr. Suit. He has entirely too much control. I have a school organization taskforce that is in charge of all parties, retirements, and baby showers. We also have groups that organize professional development, technology, parental involvement, curriculum, and finances. Your school needs many voices not just a suit.

Canceling Belle's party is completely disrespectful. Why not just have the two parties? People will go to whichever party(ies) they want to. They don't need to be bullied. I do hope that everyone boycotts the end-of-year party. Suit should be so ashamed.

I would like to know exactly what Suit said to these teachers to change their mind. Belle is the one who I feel sorry for.

If your school is anything like mine, very few will boycott the end-term party. Last year when some teachers asked for their money back, the principal said no. (But I have to tell you that in my school, the retiree was always honored at the end-term party because elementary teachers are very cheap and won't pay for 2 parties.) I do not go to end-term parties either.

I hope a group of teachers will get together and have something for Belle.

Belle should just go out with some of her good friends and forget about suit and the rest. Have a Happy retirement Belle and forget the HYPOCRITES.

It's my experience that people like Suit wouldn't be ashamed if their clothes were miraculously whisked off their fatuous asses in front of the church choir.
