Evaluating Teachers

A well liked substitute learns tons of interesting stuff about the teacher he is covering for.  He learns about the good teachers and the bad ones, the ones who like kids and the ones who hate them all.  He learns who the kids want to keep forever and who they wish would never come back.  He wonders why the administration does not see the same things the children see. The little darlings of the school are not such darlings after all.

"He wonders why the administration does not see the same things the children see." - Well said! I couldn't agree more! As a first-year teacher, I'm frustrated with the hypocrisy amongst leadership. If it really is "all about the kids" as they keep saying, then why don't they LISTEN to the kids and get THEIR feedback rather than making decisions without really knowing what's really going on in the classrooms.

The people whose heads are up the administration's butt are probably those who don't like kids, and may not be very good or well-liked teachers.....they only use the kids to manipulate the admins, who are all legends in their own minds.
