No Wonder They Fail

Student 1 "had" to go to leave the country to attend his aunt's wedding. He "had" to be gone for two weeks. He knew he was missing an exam.  He did not bring his book along or even think about school the time he was gone.  He's back now, lost.

Student 2 left the country to go to his grandfather's funeral.  He was gone a week and a half and missed an exam.  He didn't bring the text along and is now back and lost.

Is it me, or is it them?  The kids I know outside of this college did not miss school for anything.  My son missed his aunt's wedding because he had a three hour class.  A friend's daughter missed her grandmother's funeral because of a 5-hour grad class.

I do not think I would miss any of my grandparents funerals for anything. I think that is personal preference and choice and closeness of family. My grandparents meant absolutely everything to me, especially my Grandma S. G. I was a wreck a month after she passed.

I like the ones that miss school for a few days because their sister had a baby.

"what, are you delivering?"

I am attending a local technical college and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who refuse to do the work in any given class. I check the class average against my own average in the class and often find that my peers are bordering on failing. It blows my mind that people can be paying for the classes, or at the very least be receiving scholarship or financial assistance that requires certain standards to be met, yet they simply don't do the work.
