Suppose an ATR has been working at a certain school, covering a complete program, a program that consists of three classes in her license area. Suppose the ATR has gone above and beyond any teacher's requirements to assure her students are successful. Suppose the ATR is only an ATR because her previous mentor job no longer exists. Suppose that ATR was asked to mentor new teachers.
Wouldn't you also suppose that the ATR would be first in line to get appointed when a position in her subject area opened up?

So, may I ask, who got the job?
Obviously, anyone but the ATR.
This is a concerted effort by principals to avoid hiring ATRs no matter what, in hopes that Klein will rescind the agreement to hire only ATRs until they are all placed. Then, when none are hired, they will be labeled "unhireable" and Klein will then lobby for them to be fired. And unless Michael Mulgrew has the pair that Randi did not, you can be certain they will be sacrificed in the next contract.
I only know the job is listed on the open marked.
and the ATR was told that there would be no new hirees in her licensed area.
If a job is posted and it's in her area, then she needs to apply.
I don't understand her licensed area. Isn't it HS Mathematics or has that been changed too?

Her field is not math.
Sorry for the mistake. But my point is still the same...
If the job opening is in her license area, then why can't she get the job?
Could be they don't want to pay her. Could be the AP is threatened by her intelligence? Could be they would rather try to get a teenie bopper that will jump on command.
The point is ATRs over age 40 are not being hired anywhere.
The only way we will know the stats on this is in September. The UFT will have to make sure the agreement to fill positions with ATRs was followed.
But, she still needs to apply like everyone else this way she will have a leg to stand on when she disputes the hiring.
We should have 6 - 8 spots to be filled in our school. We'll see how many are ATRs. We had several capable Math ATRs in our building.
Yes, she should apply to any vacancies she is interested in.
Since there is an opening in this ATRs job in her home school and she has shown her worth in more ways than one, that job should be hers. She taught 5 classes last term and got an S rating. The jobs she is applying for are not even giving her interviews. Soemthing is wrong. The contract is not gettingher interviews or jobs. I know ATRs who have been to plenty of job fiars and still cannot get hired.
If it's her license area at her home school and she is the most senior ATR I thought they had to hire her back. That's what happened to me.
