It was my remedial math teacher at my local junior college who first urged me to consider a math major. I had the same exact reaction. I told her I'd never been any good at math and she said "then you'll be able to help all the students who struggle because you'll know where they are coming from."<br /><br />Her words changed the course of my life. That was 1994 and here I am 16 years later 12 years into my teaching career.
